Exhibition in New Zealand Feb 2010

Up coming Event – Group Show in Christchurch New Zealand “Between two Worlds, entre deux mondes”
I am participating in an exhibition opening Feb 15th with Fatu Feuu and Isaballe Staron-Tutugoro. Each of us will be examining our positions as relocated people living outside of our original cultures.
I will be presenting some of my PhD photographs but on a smaller scale. Instead of taking memory objects with me I am going to produce a number of small photographs on canvas to go alongside the 4 larger works that represent 4 generations of our bi-cultural family.
I would love to have taken my full PhD exhibition to NZ but have never had funding to make that possible. Maybe one day Alice Tyree will return to Christchurch in all her glory, with Uluolefa making her first visit? Who knows?

I shall try and put this invite on this site …  and here it is!

Cheers Vanya

  1. Hi Vanya,
Hearty congratulations for launching the website. Makes it much easier for people to find out/learn more/and benefit from your work. Would love to see your photos of the tsunami on your blog to compare with the many photos taken by others- there’s nothing like the lens of an artist to get at those elusive qualities. Cheers Tili

  4. Congratulations on your website Vanya! I really enjoyed exploring your work and reading your articles. I’m fascinated by the way you use the traditional symbols in your artwork and the background of them you give in your writings.

I hope to see your work for real when I come back from my trip in january,

    Manuia!
